Any Suggestions On How To Build A Better Portfolio Being An Amateur Photographer?
I am an amateur digital photographer. I am trying to find more people for shoots to build my portfolio. I do not want to photograph individuals without their permission as that would be rude. So I am trying to find ways to “advertise” for people to shoot pictures of. I am not looking to take pictures of artificial beauty meaning the made up model types. I want to photograph people from “all” walks of life. I want to show diversity and people as they really are in my photographs.
Hi
You don’t have to go looking for people. The spur-of-the-moment is the best shot. Also, when you photograph, always try to convey what you are thinking and feel at that particular point in time. A pic is worth a 1000 words !!!
This way, when the viewer looks at your pics, he knows what you are trying to say or was thinking at that time and if they say “WOW”…then you conveyed your message.
You can photograph discreetly . That is the idea. No need to ask them permission. You are just building a portfolio and not selling their photos. Get it.
Also, try to shoot from an angle or from bottom to top or top to botton to show perspective. Go on the waterfront, near a river, a sunset. etc….
Good Luck !!!
ask your friends, family, ask them to ask there friensds for you.
or you could do the rude thing and just take pics of strangers. its not actually that rude.
