Anyone Know A Good Camera For An Amature Photographer?

Author: I’ve been looking for a new camera, since all I have is my camera phone to take pictures with. I’m not really familiar with cameras or anything, so its kinda hard to find one perfect for me.

What you need is a user friendly point & shoot [P&S] digital camera which takes great pictures and videos.
The all time winner bargain compact digital camera is the Canon 7.1 megapixel PowerShot SD1000 [not the SD1100 [IS] 7.1 with an added 2- gig memory card which when set in the manual mode for “Vivid” colors and videos at 30 fps in 320 dpi format provides killer images and videos under low light conditions. It’s especially good for low-light concerts. Small and pocket size with a good zoom I doubt you’ll find. Go to a store and see if a 5X optical zoom camera is ok. If ok consider the Olympus FE-340. 8 megapixels, 5X optical zoom. You might also want to check on a Pentax Optio V20. It’s also 8 megapixels, 5X optical zoom. Of the two I’d go for the Pentax in which you can raise the ISO setting a bit and still get a decent image. Both cameras are subcompacts.
