Best Camera For A Beginner Photographer?

I am looking for a nice camera for around $350. I would like to have a dslr. I am looking to shoot HD photos and I definitely want it to be digital. No film. I am currently looking at a used nikon d100. Note I am am not afraid to own used or refurbed products. I am not wanting to go to school for this, but just want to try it out and maybe pick it up as a hobbie. Any help will be appreciated.
