What’s A Good Autofocus Digital Camera For Sports Photography?

My husband wants to take pictures at our sons’ baseball and soccer games – he wants to be able to point and shoot. We have a My husband wants to take pictures at our sons’ baseball and soccer games – he wants to be able to point and shoot. We have a Canon PowerShot Elph and we can get pretty decent pics but the shutter lag is a pain. And since it’s 4 years old I’m guessing there is some better technology now….What’s a step up for us in the digital world but not into SLRs?

Photographers: This Camera Any Good?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…

I was thinkin’ about buying this camera soon since it’s tax time and all coming up…I had a Sony Cybershot (lower end model) and it served my purposes, but now I’m working as a photojournalist and after using their staff camera I find the P&S a little limiting (plus the LCD broke!). I figured it was time to upgrade.
PS I know the camera I want is also P&S, but I simply want a higher quality bang for my buck without spending several thousand dollars for an SLR. Any knowledge on this model? Good? Horrible? My fiance just got a canon rebel and I assume it’s similar (if not slightly more constricting). Feedback appreciated!

What Is A Good, Entry-level Dslr For Long-term Use?

I am a beginner, amateur photographer who is looking to make his first purchase of a DSLR. I have done some research on the available cameras in the market and have come up with some options for myself namely: 1) Sony A350; 2) Sony A700K; 3) Nikon D90; 4) Nikon D70 and; 5) Canon EOS Series.
I understand that most reviews will name the Nikon D40 as the best choice for beginners but another factor influencing my purchase is usability over a long period of time. Thus, I will need a camera which allows me to use a variety of compatible lenses and accessories over a period of time. Also, I feel that the D40’s relatively low MP resolution will not serve me well enough for my future endeavours.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m currently leaning towards Sony’s as I’m comfortable with their user-friendly products and their built-in-body image stabilisers and up-and-coming range of lenses. But I am willing to hear out cases for other cameras as well as other brands i.e. Pentax, Minolta, Olympus.

Good Camera?

I am not officially a pro photographer, but I am pretty savvy with cameras and I am good. I’m in college so I am not looking to buy a camera over $1,000. I have looked at the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI and Nikon D60 online, but I didn’t really see any reviews on these products. I want one that takes great shots – anything from macro to landscape to portrait. What opinions do you have on these cameras? What are their strong points and weaknesses? Is there a better model out there for under $1,000? I want more than 10 MP. I don’t really want a heavy model. I want one that isn’t confusing.
