Do Wedding Photographers Have The Copyright On The Pictures They Take?

This is the question I asked yesterday, and it seems I upset a few photographers out there. Sorry about that, but it seems to me that £800 for 1 hours work, then to supply discs with 1 copy of each picture, was a bit over the top. If I commission an artist to paint my portrait, I would not expect him to take the finished product home with him and charge me extra for the occasional look. My son and his wife only wanted someone with “A good eye” to make sure the pics were a good standard. They obviously misunderstood the contract that they would have to pay for additional copies rather than being able to copy them themselves. I am in the wrong business. Thank you for all the interesting replies I received. I normally would not condone trying to bypass the security on the disc to make illegal copies, but £800 seemed a bit of a rip off. Once again, apologies to all you photographers that were offended.

Do People Prefer B&w Or Color Wedding Photographs? If B&w, Are Thy Good Enough From Digital Photographers?

I am doing some research about Black and White Photography, and thought this is a good place to start. I have been under the impression that today digital wedding photographers really do not pay as much attention to final product, and instead give their customer photographs straight from their camera, and let the customer do with the photographs whatever they choose. Do you other people think the same way?
I am doing research for a new article which I will be publishing on wiki.worldonpaper.com
Thanks All.

Question For Photographers In Europe?

I am looking for a good quality, reasonable place to get posters, calendars, and 8×11 or larger prints done, saleable quality. I am in Ljubljana, but printing here can be pricey.Any suggestions, like Hungary, Czech, Poland, Italy, or how about getting them done overseas and shipped? Would the cost of shipping offest the savings? I would go to Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, etc, but do not know how the Schengen agreement affects bringing commercial supplies or products across the borders. thanks!

Any Photographers Out There Who Specialize In Shooting Jewelry?

I read a variety of high end fashion magazines and Architectural Digest and see many beautiful ads of watches and jewelry. I am wondering if they are using high end DSLR’s and macro lenses or medium format digital. It looks like the lighting is so specialized. I have seen the variety of light boxes and light tents on ebay, but there is a lot more technical info to learn about photographing reflective products. Are there any books out that show step by step tutorials in shooting jewelry. Also, it looks like there is a variety of retouching tools utilized to get the pro look in ads. What is the best gear needed to learn jewelry photography? Thanks for any advice and help with this topic.

Can You Photographers And Photo Editors Please Help Me Figure Out How To Get This Kind Of Effect On A Photo?

Here is a photo link to Amazon.com, the picture has a really saturated almost “painting-like” effect to it. How is this done?
