I know that self photography is hard for anyone to do simply for the following reasons.
1. Camera too close
2. Steady Hand (Holding the camera without a blur)
3. Right Angle (Wrong angle can make shapes (say the nose) for example look wierder)
Also camera doesn’t see things the same way as the naked eye does.
What you see in a mirror for example is what you & people see right?, as it’s the naked eye that is seeing this not a piece of machinery built into a phone, though how come when you take a photo yourself with a phone for example, in the mirror your skin might have a nice glow & your eye’s might sparkle (due to natural tans or products that a person may use), but then on the camera you lose all that & don’t look half as nice as what you do when, for example, you look in the mirror.
Remember, I’m also talking self photography here & a regular camera phone, not a professional camera.
I suppose what I am saying is how do you take a self photo that pretty much captures what you see with the naked eye (Including the light level & that nice skin tone, eye sparkle that a phone camera misses) is what I’m intrigued about.
Thoughts & any professional photographers have any views?

i am the type of person that likes to take photographic portraits of people and pictures of peoples everyday life (usually on the sly as a think these photos show people at their most natural and best) the only problem is my current lens only has a range of 18 to 70 mm which often doesnt allow me tofocus in as closely as i would like and only gives views of the people i have photographed from a distance.
i am currently considering buying a new lens which has a range of 18 to 135 mm and another which is 18 to 200mm. i was wondering which of these lens would be better in allowing me to take photos of people regardless of if they pose or if the photo is taken on the sly also would a lens of this range allow me to take photos of the type discussed without being obtrusive i dont want ot look like a press photographer with a huge camera and lens

My girlfriend is a photographer and has been asked to take pictures of an IT company’s products (hard-drives and the such like), but she is unsure of the best set-up to use so that the flash doesn’t reflect on the products. She mentioned something about an umbrella light but says she has no idea of whether that’s right or how to use one. Any help appreciated!

I am looking for a Canon SLR camera to take prepared food shots and product shots. It MUST be Canon. My budget is 1500.00 whith any accessories i need such as a macro lense and/or lighting if i need it. Anyone have any experience or recommendations? It must be a Canon SLR.
